Insurance is a tricky subject as most insurance companies simply note that our courses are conducted at race traack venues so do not want to provide coverage. This is ridiculous considering that most levels of courses conducted are designed to improve driver safety on our roads, something that insurance does not do.
We have developed alist of potential questions asked by insurers if you are trying to clarify your coverage for one of our events. The general questions are noted here with further course details listed below;
- Length of course? 9am to 4pm,
- Any unsupervised time during the day? NO, all session have instructors supervising/controlling the activity at all times.
- Number of vehicles in each excercise at any one time? Only 1 car participating in an activity at any one time. (apart from the High Performance course)
- Number of trainees per instructor? Drive to Survive 1:10, Advanced & FPV 1:8, High Performance 1:4.
- Speed limit? Drive to Survive max 80km/h, ADV & FPV max 110km/h. High Performance unlimited.
- Is there any timing of laps? NO, only the High Performance course has timing.
- Location: For the Drive to Survive & Advanced Driving courses we utilize safe areas of race track venues although we do not use the full circuit. For FPV & High Performance courses we do use full circuits although as noted earlier there are certain restrictions in place on an FPV Drive Day.

Drive to Survive defensive driving
This information describes the activities conducted during the Drive to Survive defensive driving course;
Driving Skills trained, course content?
- Emergency Braking: Braking at various speeds to understand the impact of speed on reaction & stopping distances. Includes techniques for optimum skills of thresehold braking & ABS braking.
- Brake, Swerve & Stop: Introducing the ability to brake & swerve to avoid situations, highlighting the awareness that cars can both brake & swerve at the same time.
- Brake, Swerve & Recover: Developing awareness of braking & swerving without over-reacting to avoid an emergency situation. Again, this activity also highlights the impact of speed on the drivers ability to react & control the car.
- Slalom: Generates and understanding of the link between 'proper' seating/steering position, the vehicles behaviour and vision to negotiate the slalom course (not timed).
All of the driving activities are linked to classroom discussion regarding the attitude to dealing with the roads safely and do not provide defensive driver training value on their own.

Advanced Driving course
This information describes the activities conducted during the High Performance driving course;
Driving Skills trained, course content?
- Emergency Braking: Braking at various speeds to understand the impact of speed on reaction & stopping distances. Includes techniques for optimum skills of thresehold braking & ABS braking.
This level course also introduces an understanding of the part that the vehicle dynamics play in the cars behaviour (ie, weight trf).
- Corner Lines: Highlights the process of correct and safe cornering including appropriate speed choice, smooth corner entry and not accelerating until exiting the corner.
- Motorkhana: Short timed course between cones, developing the skill of planing a route and continuing to utilize the skills developed during earlier activities.
All of the driving activities are linked to classroom discussion regarding the attitude to dealing with the roads safely and do not provide defensive driver training value on their own.

High Performance driving course
This information describes the activities conducted during the High Performance driving course;
Driving Skills trained, course content?
- This course is conducted entirely on the race circuit without speed restrictions.
- Strict rules apply to sharing the track with other vehicles and drivers including no overtaking during braking or cornering.

Ford Performance Vehicles Drive Day
This information describes the activities conducted during the Ford Performance Vehicles Drive Day;
Driving Skills trained, course content?
- Emergency Brake & Swerve: Braking at various speeds to understand the impact of speed on reaction & stopping distances. Includes techniques for optimum skills of thresehold braking & ABS braking. Introduces the awareness of braking and swerving at the same time.
- Slalom: Generates and understanding of the link between 'proper' seating/steering position, the vehicles behaviour and vision to negotiate the slalom course (not timed). This level course also introduces an understanding of the part that the vehicle dynamics play in the cars behaviour (ie, weight trf).
- Traction Control: This activity has been designed solely to highlight the benefits of 'Traction Control' features of the FPV. It gives owners a chance to understand the benefits of the system and an awareness of what to expect if the system is required.
- Motorkhana: Short timed course between cones, developing the skill of planing a route and continuing to utilize the skills developed during earlier activities.
- Circuit Drive: This part of the day gives owners a chance to drive their performance vehicles on the race track with certain 'controls' in place for safety. Vehicles are released onto the circuit approximately 400m apart with no overtaking allowed. The are speed restrictions in place (max 110km/h) controlled with witches hat chicanes along the straights to slow drivers down. Drivers do not complete full circuit laps, they enter the pits lane each time around.
